The Cedar Hour booking app on a phone next to the club’s website with a cedar sauna photo
The Cedar Hour memberships page in a browser: a single visit, a ten-visit pass and a monthly membership
The Cedar Hour brand guidelines: the wordmark, two typefaces and a palette of cedar browns and steel greys
Two phones with the Cedar Hour app: the member’s week of sauna sessions and the screen to invite a guest

The brief

Cedar Hour is a sauna and cold plunge club in Gowanus, Brooklyn. The club opened with bookings by text, tracked in a shared spreadsheet at the front desk. The founders wanted members to book sessions, buy passes, and join waitlists in an app instead.

What I did

The club had opened without a real identity, so I designed a wordmark, chose two typefaces, and pulled colors from the cedar and steel of the space. Then I designed the booking app around a member’s week, with open sessions, passes, and guest invites on one screen. The website introduces the club and sends people to the app to book. I built the site and worked with the club’s developer on the app.

After launch

Members book, reschedule, and cancel in the app, and the front desk no longer handles bookings by text.
